Bodega Comarcal Valle de Güímar awarded two medals at Bacchus 2006 The grapes of Brumas de Ayosa Blanco 2005 and Brumas de Ayosa Espumoso Brut Nature 2002 come from one of the highest vineyards in Europe. |
Bodega Comarcal Valle de Güímar was awarded two medals at the 7th International Wine Competition Bacchus 2006: a Gold Medal for ‘BRUMAS DE AYOSA Blanco 2005’ and a Silver Medal for ‘BRUMAS DE AYOSA Espumoso Brut Nature 2002’. As in previous years, this International Competition was organised by the Unión Española de Catadaores (U.E.C. – Union of Spanish Wine Tasters) under the aegis and control of the International Vine and Wine Office (IWO) and the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food. The contest is integrated into the International Federation of Great Wine and Spirits Awards (VINOFED) and was held in Madrid from 18 to 21 March with a prestigious panel of Spanish and international wine tasters. The Bodega Comarcal Valle de Güímar wines awarded at this competition are exclusively made with Listán Blanco grapes from the ‘Las Dehesas’ area, one of the highest viticultural areas in Europe (1,300 metres). In this area, this traditional grape variety of the Canary Islands from mature vines is perfectly adapted to dry farming land having very steep slopes, where snow appears, spring is pleasant and the tenacity of the vine growers is necessary to conserve a myriad of sensations that are difficult to transmit without losing any of them. These sensations are captured in both ‘BRUMAS DE AYOSA Blanco 2005’ and ‘BRUMAS DE AYOSA Espumoso Brut Nature 2002’. BRUMAS DE AYOSA Blanco 2005 Winemaking.-Wine made with Listán Blanco grapes grown in the high area of the region. The de-stemmed grapes are macerated cold for some hours before being pressed. The must obtained after racking is fermented at a controlled temperature. The wine is then decanted three or four times, one entailing protein stabilisation clarification. The wine then undergoes cold tartar stabilization, sterilising filtration and is finally bottled. Tasting.- Clear pale yellow colour. Crystalline, clean and brilliant with intense and complex fruity aromas. Balanced and very persistent to the palate. Packaging.- 75 cl. bottles (boxes of 12 bottles) Brut Nature BRUMAS de AYOSA 2002 Winemaking.- Base wine made from Listán Blanco grapes that are picked early. The de-stemmed grapes are then pressed and the must thus obtained is fermented at a controlled temperature after being racked. The resulting wine is subjected to clarification, cold tartar stabilisation and is filtered. It then undergoes a second fermentation in bottles in cellars at a controlled temperature of 14ºC. It is aged in the bottle before the manual disgorging operation following the traditional Méthode Champenoise. Tasting.- Straw-yellow colour with greenish glints. Brilliant and fine bubbles. Varietal aromas with a touch of ageing. Vigorous to the mouth, harmonious and fresh. Packaging.- 75 cl. bottles (boxes of 6 bottles) or with individual packaging. |
